“OUR TEAM IS RUN BY A PELOTON OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS, led by your 2 head coaches.”

MEET YOUR COACHES

Sami Mahrus /// CO head coach

Sami likes mountain bikes — riding them, building them, maintaining them, and geeking out about anything related. Few other sports give back like mountain biking: grit-driven climbs, adrenaline-filled descents, flow, being in nature, covering vast and challenging terrain, and sharing all that with family and friends.

With the team, Sami hopes to foster a life-long passion for bikes and riding, and to abide by NICA’s mission of building strong minds, bodies, character, and communities through cycling.

Sami is a biomedical scientist and works in the pharmaceutical industry.

SCOTT MARTIN /// co HEAD COACH

Coach Scott started riding his bike out in the woods as a kid, and it stuck. He has raced both mountain and road, but these days enjoys sharing the freedom and joy of being outside on a bike with family and friends. He coaches the team to share the adventure with young athletes, build community, and help get more kids riding bikes. Outside of cycling, he works in climate technology.

CALLING ALL RIDE LEADERS

Parents and guardians that mountain bike, we need you. Please signup to become a rider leader and help make practices possible. According to NICA regulations and for the safety of our kids, we need 2 ride leaders per group during practices. We tend to break the kids up into 3 - 4 groups. Which means we potentially need 8 adult ride leaders at each practice. To become a Ride Leader is as simple as an easy background check and Level 1 NICA certification. If you’re interested please contact us and then head over to the NICA PitZone.
